The 2007 Vanquish is the last year the car was available. Although not confirmed
by Aston Martin, the 2007 Vanquish was replaced in 2008 by the DBS. The first Vanquish
cars hit showrooms in 2001, although not in the United States until 2002. In
2005, the Aston Martin Vanquish S premiered. The Vanquish S had slightly revised
styling, more power, and new wheels.
The same 6.0-liter V-12 was used in both the Vanquish and Vanquish S, but in the
S it developed 520 hp opposed to the 460 hp from the base Vanquish. The Vanquish
also used a manu-matic F1-style transmission, one of the first times Aston applied
it to a production car. Though not perfect and a little jerky at low speeds, it
still proved itself as the future of automatics.
