Looking for an Audi S4 cars for sale? The Audi S4 is a high-performance versions of the Audi A4 sedan. The Audi S4, like some of its other models, comes standard with all-wheel drive. This leaves the car with a rally-car-like demeanor. No matter what, it is a blast to drive, whether in a straight line or through some twisty corners.

The original came out in 1991 as the performance version of the Audi 100. The first S4 came with a 2.2L I-5 engine developing 227 horsepower. The Quattro all-wheel drive, an Audi trademark, and a 5-speed manual were standard. When the 100 turned into the A6, the S4 became the S6.

The second generation came out in 1997 after a three year hiatus. The car came with a 2.7L V-6 producing 250 horsepower. Acceleration was quick with a 0-60 time of 5.6 seconds.

The third generation hit the roads in 2003. For these models they shoehorned a big V-8 under the hood. The 4.2L V-8 churned out power at every rpm, though at its peak it made 340 horsepower. The 0–60 time was 5.1 seconds.

All of these generations had a Avant or wagon counterpart. The 3rd and 4th generation could come with a convertible top. The top was quick to stow, taking about 25 seconds from start to finish. The current sedan begins at around $50,000 and the convertible starts at about $7,000 more than that.
