1975 Ferrari 308GT4This 1975 Ferrari 308GT4 is a highly original example that would benefit from a straightforward recommissioning. Red with a tan leather interior that's in very good original condition. 55k miles and offered with factory books and tools. It also comes with an extra set of wheels. It runs and drives but should be serviced prior to active road use. It also needs paint and minor cosmetics at this time. A solid and honest un-restored car with a lot of potential. Added to Ferraris model range at the Paris Motor Show in November 1973, the Dino 308GT4 was the marques first car with a mid-engine V-8 layout, and the first Ferrari with a Bertone-designed body. The sharp lines and wedge-like shape contrasted with the flowing curves of the earlier Dino-badged 246 GT, providing Ferrari with an angular 2+2 coup to face off against the Lamborghini Urraco. It cannot be denied that the 308GT4 is a very well balanced sports car with head turning looks and interesting mechanical engineering. The V8 will provide you with the best sound you can think of. The boot of the Dino fits enough luggage for a weekend getaway, and for shorter trips down to town, the Dino GT4 can even fit your two children at the rear. To Be OFFERED AT AUCTION WITHOUT RESERVE at RM Sothebys' Monaco event, 10 - 11 May 2024. rnOffered Without Reserve | ?60,000 - ?80,000 EUR rnrnA factory prototype for the Ferrari 400i; began life as a 365 GT4 2+2rnRetained by Ferrari for development purposes between 1975 and 1980rnAccompanied by factory test documents, and a report by marque expert Marcel MassinirnA fascinating restoration project for a Ferrari enthusiastrn rnrnCompleted in 1975 as a 365 GT4 2+2 and finished in Argento Metallizzato over a Beige interior, chassis 18415 is understood to have been retained by the factory for testing and development purposes. According to a letter from Tony Willis of The Maranello Concessionnaires Archive, the Ferrari was fitted with an automatic gearbox and a 400 engine, fed first by carburettors and, ultimately, fuel injection during its time as an Esperianza car. During this time, it is said to have been driven by Scuderia Ferrari ace, Niki Lauda. rnrnA report by marque expert Marcel Massini states that the car was road registered in March 1980. It was sold to its first owner the following month and would eventually pass through the care of a further six owners before being exported from Italy in 2002. The Ferrari resurfaced in 2017, then owned by an enthusiast in Tasmania, Australia, and was acquired by the consigning seller in 2020. rnrnThe car is accompanied by a number of factory test documents, and boasts an automatic gearbox, air conditioning, metric alloy wheels, a roof-mounted stereo, third rear ash tray, and a fuel-injected engine bearing the number 00001.
