Debuting at the 2003 Frankfurt Motor Show, the coupe became the new carrier of the name in the lineup. Featuring a 6.0-liter 450 hp V12, the Aston Martin DB9 for sale was well received by critics and enthusiasts alike. Praised for its curvy and refined exterior aesthetic and luxurious leather interior, the first production run was also criticized as being somewhat lacking in its driving experience.

In 2012, revisions were made to improve its driving experience, particularly by firming up the aluminum chassis and increasing horsepower. Other changes also included new exaggerated bi-xenon headlights and LED running lights, an updated grill, updated air vents behind the wheels, and clear rear lights and lenses below the revised spoiler.

The convertible version was also available at the beginning of the model’s production. Somewhat heavier, the Volante has been criticized as being more flexible than its coupe sibling due to a loss of structural rigidity as a convertible. This being said, the Volante provides a prime opportunity for drivers and passengers to enjoy the sound of the massive V12 propelling them along.

The race variants, stripped of luxurious interiors and carbon-fiber clad, have had great success at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the American Le Mans Series, the FIA GT Championship, and 12 Hours of Sebring.

Our selection of the most popular British sports car line-up is a comprehensive example of these luxury grand tourers in a variety of styles and colors in both coupe and convertible body styles.

The engineers have pushed their 6.0-liter engine into uncharted territory. The mid-mounted V12 has been upgraded to produce 540 horsepower and 457 pound-feet, making it “the most potent car yet devised,” as their press release described. Acceleration from 0 to 62 mph takes only 4.5 seconds, while a top speed of 183 mph can be reached. The GT has received the new touch-sensitive AMi II infotainment system. Exterior updates include a black painted splitter and diffuser, new treatments for the headlights and taillights, black anodized brake calipers and 20-inch alloy wheels. GT badges can be found throughout, including on the headrests.

Slipping behind the wheel of the new DB9, it’s hard to think that, in principle, this model has been around for ten years. Everything about a modern-day British sports car is current and cutting edge. Of course, to keep any car model in vogue, a limited edition model has to be released, and the Carbon Edition is the as perfect execution of that mandate as possible. Up close, the introduction of carbon fiber everywhere exudes a masculine feel. All the aerodynamic body elements are in carbon fiber, and in black the two-door is striking to look at. On the inside prepare to be equally as impressed. It is a successful mix of luxury and power. The interior is an equally impressive mix of luxury and power. Of course, if this all sounds a bit overbearing, just turn on the engine and let it rip. The V-12 engine tone is magnificent and handling is surprisingly responsive and agile for a car of this size. The luxury grand tourer really is perfect for blasting down long, open, fast stretches of road in luxury. And yet it will not let you down when more active driving is required. It is also a statement of individuality, which goes a long way in terms of street cred.

The 9 was revised for 2011. A side-by-side comparison with a magnifying glass may give you proof—or you can just take our word for it. The front features a re-shaped lower intake and new headlamps. Around back, a stronger “hockey stick” curve resides above the rear wheels. But the big news is the adoption of the DBS’s Adaptive Damping System (ADS). ADS is now standard and kicks the sport package off the options’ list. Offering two ride modes, comfort, and sport, the system automatically senses road conditions to provide the desired effect. Beyond these changes, the luxury coupe still offers the most comprehensive package in the lineup, which is partly why it is one of the brand’s top-selling models. Carrying over is the 6.0-liter V-12 tuned to create 470 hp and choice of a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission, 2+2 or 2+0 seating, and fixed roof or ragtop convertible body styles.
