In 1953 Chevrolet decided to change the name of the Styleline series and renamed it Bel-Air. 1955 – 1957 Generation Two: Generation two of Chevrolet Bel-Air was launched back in 1955 to mark an even more stylish and powerful era. It came with the following updated features: Ferrari-inspired grille, Chrome fender spears, Chrome headliner bands for hardtops, Stainless window openings.


Being one of the collectors’ items, Chevy Bel-Air prices have doubled since 1999, and it's nearly impossible to find a derelict Bel-Air car for sale.


For the first time, Bel-Air came with a V8 engine that included 4.6L V8, 4.3L V8, 3.9L I6, 3.5L I6. In this model, GM also included two-speed optional power glide transmission to its previously added three-speed automatic and manual selection. Both of the V8 models also offered an optional air conditioning feature for the very first time.


The 1956 Bel-Air also featured a full-width grille and a facelift along with a two-tone treatment of bodyside. It also came with a seat belt feature, but according to the stats, only eight percent of the people opt for the models with this feature.


The Bel-Air model, which was launched in 1957, is still regarded as one of the most successful and popular iterations. Not only is it regarded as one of the best classic Chevrolet cars, but it's also known to be one of the best ones of all time.
