It’s hard to believe that it has already been a year since a Lingenfelter Camaro SS ran a 10-second quarter-mile at Camaro5Fest in Valdosta, Georgia. Since then, that same Camaro has laid claim to the fastest LS9-powered generation-five Camaro in the world, posting an 8.997-second quarter-mile pass at Maryland International Raceway on November 21, 2010.
With some new modifications, Lingenfelter hopes to top its previous record at the second-annual Camaro5Fest on April 14–17, 2011, at Firebird International Raceway in Phoenix, Arizona. A new vehicle and engine package will also be announced.
Since its eight-second run, the Camaro has been modified with a race suspension package, some transmission upgrades, and a torque-cut module. Lingenfelter says the 4,100-plus pound vehicle produces a massive 1,200 rear-wheel hp. Watch the video below for proof. Follow the jump for the full press release.
