The now-infamous 199-mph Pagani crash was actually only 62 mph?

199-mph Pagani Crash

News of two people surviving a crash in a Pagani Zonda at 199 mph quickly made headlines Friday afternoon. Now we have word that the man behind the wheel is Steffen Korbach, a millionaire investor that recently purchased the infamous Gemballa tuning company. Korbach also owns Prestige Cars magazine and that magazine’s web site is reporting the crash occurred closer to 62 mph and that it was not nearly as bad as everyone is making it sound.

The crash occurred on Italy’s A10 Autostrada, a section of road that connects Italy and France and that local police say is hard to manage due to difficulties enforcing cross-border traffic fines. Korbach did not deny that he was racing a Mercedes-Benz in his Pagani Zonda F Clubsport when he lost control of his vehicle, hit a guardrail, lost a wheel, overturned, and then collided with the Mercedes. Korbach said he is grateful that everyone walked away from the crash unscathed.
