Chevrolet is recalling 22,000 Corvettes equipped with removable roofs due to concerns that the roof may come off while at speed. The recall for 2005–2007 Corvette and Corvette ZO6 models comes after a 2006 recall for the same problem failed to make the proper fix. GM has decided to replace the roof or reimburse owners that have independently had the roof repaired or replaced.
The 2006 recall was for 2005–2006 Corvettes over concerns that in “primarily in hot and humid climates…the adhesive between the roof panel and the frame may separate." In total 30,793 vehicles were recalled.
Despite the recall and the addition of adhesive foam to the problem vehicles, 108 owners claimed their vehicles’ roofs were still separating from the body.
