**Update** BMW has released pricing for the 2011 740i and 740iL, which will come in at $71,025 and $35,425, respectfully. This places the 740i approximately $12,850 below the base price on a 750i. **Update**
BMW is bringing back the 740i and 740iL, a car some speculate may be the last time the 7-series was actually a driver’s car and not simply a car that drives you. Unlike the old 740i, which debuted in 1995 with a 282-hp V-8, the new 740 will be powered by a twin-turbo inline-six engine making 315 hp and 330 lbs.-ft. of torque. Power will be routed to the rear wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission. The last time a BMW 7 came with six-cylinder power was in 1992 when the 218-hp 735i was still available. The car should be in showrooms by spring 2010 as a 2011. No pricing has been announced, but expect it to come in a bit lower than the starting price of $80,455 for the 750i.
