9ff GT9-R details and photos

We already told you that 9ff has its sights set on the title of world’s fastest production car, now more details have emerged on how it plans to do that. The 9ff GT9-R will utilize the same 4.0-liter six-cylinder Boxer engine as the GT9 but now making 133 more horsepower for a total of 1,120.  The performance stats are nothing short of amazing with zero-to-62 mph taking 2.9 seconds, 186 mph requiring 15.8 seconds, and a new top speed of 257 mph. The current record, held by the SSC Ultimate Aero TT, is at 256 mph. The GT9-R has two things to worry about:

-         The new-for-2009 SSC Ultimate Aero makes even more power—up from 1,183 to 1,287 hp—and has been aerodynamically enhanced for a higher top speed

-         Don’t rule out the Keatings TKR, which has already produced test runs of 260 mph

9ff plans to build only 20 GT9-R cars. 9ff also guarantees that with the amount of customization available no two cars will be the same. More pictures of the 9ff GT9-R here.
