With GM now out of bankruptcy, the projects that were put on indefinite hold are being re-evaluated for the near future. Motor Trend is reporting that one such vehicle is the Chevrolet Camaro Z/28. Part of the reason why GM feels like it can now sell the Z/28 is because its new contracts have lowered the company's labor costs, allowing it to price the Camaro low enough to be competitive and without stealing sales from the Corvette.
Underneath the hood will be a 6.2-liter supercharged V-8 that can also be found in the CTS-V. Estimates have the power at 556 hp at 6,100 rpm and 551 lb-ft of torque at 3,800 rpm; enough power to hurl the Z/28’s approximately 4,000-pound body to 60 mph in an estimated 3.9 seconds.
