The Nissan-GT-R-warranty controversy is not over yet. New exclusions for the 2010 model have popped up and seem more absurd than ever. We have discussed how the warranty will become void if the car is launched with VDC off. Now, Nissan has additionally added that the car’s warranty will be invalid if the car is taken to a track or airstrip, is run on a dynometer unless for emission purposes, doesn’t meet Nissan’s maintenance schedule, or has any of its on-board computers disconnected.
All of this information can easily be obtained from the car’s computers and, although not confirmed, most likely the GPS-tracking system. (Remember that GPS system is aware of some tracks, even removing the speed limiter when it detects the car is on a track over in Japan) Denying the dealership access to the data on the car’s event data recorder will also void the warranty.
