Lamborghini Orange County, formerly the world’s largest Lamborghini dealership, closed its door in November of 2008 without much explanation as to why. Court documents have just been revealed that might give some insight into the dealership’s sudden closure.
Volkswagen Credit Inc. filled a lawsuit in Orange County Supreme Court accusing the former owners of “outright theft.” Vik Keuylian and his sisters Asdghig, Nora, and Sossi Keuylian are accused of stealing $12 million by selling 54 cars out of its fleet in eight days via deep discounts but failing to pay the credit company for the cars. These cars were sold from both the Orange County dealership as well as its sister dealership in Calabasas.
The 54 cars account for nearly 8% of Lamborghini sales in 2008. Lamborghini reported a tough sales year last year, selling only 24 more cars than it did in 2007.
