First, the Bugatti Veyron was named the world’s fastest production car. Then 9ff started work on its attempt, but was beat to the punch by Shelby SuperCar’s (SSC) Ultimate Aero. A couple months ago, we learned 9ff was not happy with its GT9’s second-place finish, and was going to vie for the title, again.
Now we have just learned that the 2009 SCC Ultimate Aero will make even more power, thus helping it retain its title, despite 9ff’s continued efforts.
Horsepower for the 2009 Ultimate Aero is up 104 from 1183 to 1287; courtesy of a new one-piece billet aluminum engine block. SSC also redesigned the car’s front fascia to help engine performance and the car’s aerodynamics. All combined, SSC estimates the car will now be able to go 270 mph.
