The Lightning GT is an all electric supercar that is proudly on display at the 2008 British International Motor Show. The Lightning GT will be in direct competition with the other electric sports cars coming to the market via Fisker and Tesla. The Lightning GT uses motors in the actual wheel housing to spin the tires to the tune of 700 horsepower at the incredible low rpm of zero. Combined with its light weight, the car is capable of going zero to 60 in under four seconds.
A luxury and extended range version will also be available but with much lower horsepower numbers. The car, much like the Fisker, will come with a special cord so that you can recharge the car from an outlet at your home. The Lightning will cost somewhere near 300,000 Euros when it goes in sale. Availability for the United States has yet to be determined. With the rise of gas prices, more and more small car companies are making fantastic claims of horsepower, performance, and mileage. All of them state these cars will be in drive ways soon, yet none have started delivering cars. All we can do is wait and see if these dream cars become a reality.
