SRT teaser images remind us that the 2013 Viper is coming

2013 SRT Viper front

Da Viper is coming, and it doesn’t vant to vipe your vindows, either. Obscure G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero reference aside, Dodge SRT has been teasing us with vague images of the next-generation 2013 Viper as well as its new logo in preparation for the vehicle's launch in April at the 2012 New York International Auto Show.

The first image previewed its headlamps, hood scoop, and double-bubble roof; all of the visible parts resemble and obviously pay homage to the the Vipers of yore. The contents of the second image, which Dodge just released on its Facebook page, are much more ambiguous and up for debate. SRT has also previewed the car’s new emblem, which is labeled the “Stryker” badge.

Rumors have the Viper’s V-10 engine increasing from 8.4 to a whopping 8.7 liters. Traction control is standard, but we don’t know if even that will be enough to tame this wild beast.

Continental Supersports Ice Speed Record to make North America debut at New York Auto Show

Despite a modest release, Bentley is extremely excited about its Continental Supersports Ice Speed Record (ISR) Convertible. It will make its North American debut at the New York International Auto Show starting this Friday, April 22, 2011.

The car celebrates a new world ice-speed record set by Juha Kankkunen in a Supersport Convertible on February 10, 2011. He was able to achieve a speed of 205.48 mph, eclipsing his own record of 199.83 mph, which he set in a Continental GT in 2007. The Bentley Supersports Ice Speed Record Convertible will be limited to just 100 units.

Like the car it is based off, power is derived from a 6.0-liter twin-turbocharged W-12 engine that can run off gasoline, E85 bio-ethanol, or any combination of the two. Power is up compared to the base Continental Supersport Convertible for a new total of 631 hp. This makes the Continental Supersports Ice Speed Record Convertible the most powerful Bentley ever.

BMW develops M Versions of its SUVs

BMW introduced M versions of both its X5 and X6 SUVs at the New York Auto Show this week. The pair is powered by a version of the 4.4-liter V-8 making 555 hp at 6,000 rpm and 500 lbs.-ft. of torque at 5,650 rpm. Zero-to-60 mph should take a scant 4.5 seconds for the bulky duo.

Handling in all of its encompassing terms, including lateral grip, steering response, balance, and stopping power, has also been greatly increased through careful tuning of its xDrive, Dynamic Performance Control, and Dynamic Stability Control systems.
