Lambo and Ferrari crash, hitman accused

It sounds like something right out of a movie. Two men at a wedding reception for the family of a ruling political party and being held at a sports club in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, crashed into one another while driving more than $500,000 worth of sports car nirvana. Romeo Mbambo, a former hitman that was convicted of murdering six people and was sentenced to 72 years in prison but was granted political amnesty and released, was driving a Lamborghini Murcielago—not an LP like some of the news outlets are saying—and the other, ND Sibiya, was driving a brand new Ferrari F430. The two somehow collided. It is being reported that after the accident the two men started beating up people that were trying to take photos. After the police showed up, the two were let go without a police report being filed.

Although both men don’t seem like outstanding citizens, we will put our money that the driver of the F430 is the one you would have to worry about the most. Mbambo may have all the reputation but Sibiya is the one that is somehow missing a first name and is not being ousted by the media for having a criminal record.

Lamborghini builds 4,000th Murciélago

Lamborghini has just completed putting the finishing touches on its 4,000th Murciélago model, which just happens to be one of the 350 Murciélago LP670-4 SVs planned for existence, since it was introduced back in 2001 (yes, it has been nine years). In comparison, the Lamborghini Diablo, the predecessor to the Murciélago, was in production for 11 years and a total of 2,900 units were produced. Despite the Murciélago’s high sales, it pales in comparison to the Gallardo, which has sold nearly 10,000 units since production began in 2003. This particular Murciélago unit is headed for China.

Lamborghini print ads

These are some of Lamborghini's print ads; something you will not find in the United States. The ads below are from three campaigns: One uses the slogan “A Part of Italy” and shows Lamborghini-like structures as just a part of Italy’s normal conurbation. The second group uses the phrase “Feels Italian. Wherever you are.” The third and final group of Lamborghini ads uses the motto “Welcome to Sant’ Agata Bolognese. Home of Lamborghini.” All these ads require a little bit of focus and brain power to understand. See more Lamborghini Ads here.

Man holds back Shelby Mustang and Lamborghini

Is there any car that Franz Müllner cannot hold back? A new video brought to you by National Geographic's Humanly Impossible shows the Austrian’s incredible feat of strength—although it may be partly due to great stength of feet—as he holds back a Mustang GT500 while it performs a wicked peel out.

You may remember this same man performing a similar act with a Lamborghini Diablo more than one year ago.

LP670-4 SV nearly crashes into curb

A Lamborghini Murcielago LP670-4 SV nearly went face first into a curb after leaving a cars-and-coffee meet. Speculation on why the driver lost control of the Lambo from the people commenting on the video range from it being in race mode and thus stability control was turned off to the tires being cold and the road being slick. The LP670-4 can send up to 35 percent of its power to the front wheels to help stop incidences like this.

Murcielago replacement spied

Photos of the Jota prototype—the code-named Murcielago replacement—undergoing winter testing have hit the Internet. Speculation is the new Lambo will utilize the Audi R8’s aluminum spaceframe chassis and come with a carbon-fiber body like the Reventon. Styling is said to also be heavily influenced by the Reventon and the Estoque concept.

The Lambo V-12 will be retained and likely making at or near 700 hp. Like every base Lamborghini since the Diablo VT first appeared in 1993, a viscous-coupling-type all-wheel-drive system will aid in traction.

Will Lamborghini be introducing the LP570-4 SV?

With Lamborghini intent on introducing one new car a year and with no all-new models in sight, speculation in that for 2011 it plans to introduce a SuperVeloce derivative of the Gallardo, likely called the Gallardo LP570-4 SV. This would likely mean a bump in power to 562 hp, a reduction in weight to less than 3,300 lbs., and retainment of the current car’s all-wheel-drive system.
