Bugatti four-door concept unveiled

There have been teasers and rendering, but today Bugatti released official images of its four-door ultra-exotic sedan, the Galibier. The car is named after the steep Col du Galibier section of the Tour de France race and was also a package on Bugatti’s 1930s Type 57 sedan.

Like the Pur Sang, the Galibier revels in its polished aluminum and carbon fiber skin. The rear haunches, center spine, and elongated front section are reminiscent of the infamous Bugatti Type 57 Coupe. Under the stretched hood sits the 8.0-liter W-16 engine found in the brand’s other supercar but now capable of running on ethanol bio-fuel. No confirmations have yet been made on how much power the engine will produce. Top speed is a reported 217 mph, far off from the Veyron, but extraordinary for a luxury sedan. Bentley's new Mulsanne

The first one has already sold for half-million dollars. It is the replacement for the Arnage and is due out by the middle of 2010 as a 2011. It is Bentley’s latest flagship sedan and will be appropriately named the Mulsanne. Power will likely, although no confirmations have been made, come from the tried-and-true 6.75-liter V-8 engine and making in the proximity of 500 hp and 740 lb-ft of torque. MSRP will start at $300,000.

By far the best part of the Mulsanne is its departure from the upright stature that has been a big part of Bentley’s styling formula. The Mulsanne has more flowing lines and, despite its considerable length, looks like a better coupe than Bentley’s own Brooklands coupe. More details should follow at Frankfurt.

Lamborghini LP670-4 SV official

Lamborghini has taken the sheets off the Murcielago LP670-4 SV before its live unveiling at the Geneva Auto Show. As previously estimated, the car will be 220 lbs. lighter—75 of which came from the interior—and 29 hp more powerful than the LP640. If these first photos are any precursor to the actual look of the car, we can expect to see some dramatic differences between a stock LP640 and the SV. Zero-to-60 mph should take a scant 3.2 seconds and if the throttle is nailed on a long stretch of road, the newest Murcie should be able to get up to 212 mph.

The additional horsepower comes via optimized valve timing and a reworked intake system. Besides saving weight in the interior, engineers also replaced the front fenders and rear fenders with carbon fiber and replaced the framework with new lighter high-strength sectional steel. Despite the wing’s huge size, it helps reduce the weight of the car by a further 29 lbs. View more Lamborghini Murcielago LP670-4 pictures here.

Baby Rolls coming to Geneva

Rolls-Royce will be taking the sheets off its new entry-level car code named the 200EX at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show. Despite being the lowest priced car in the Rolls-Royce fleet, UK’s Car magazine estimates the price tag will be at a Ferrari-F430-beating $257,000.

The 200EX will be based off the long-wheel-base BMW 7-series, will utilize BMW’s V-12 engine for power, and come with a control system much like BMW’s iDrive. Unlike BMW, expect the car to retain the typical Rolls-Royce less-than-sporty handling.

The predicament Rolls-Royce faces is to make a car that will neither cannibalize its own Phantom sales nor hurt its younger brother, the BMW 7-series. Unfortunately, it has not learned from Bentley, and its very successful Continental, by developing a car priced low enough to gain an increase in market share without jeopardizing its siblings' sales. Aston Martin Rapide renderings

These are the first very-basic renderings of the Aston Martin Rapide. The real-life auto should be unveiled at one of the upcoming auto shows and then began delivery by the middle of next year, just in time to compete in a comparison test with the Porsche Panamera and maybe even the Lamborghini Estoque.

Porsche Panamera revealed

Pictures and details of Porsche’s new venture into the four-door coupe marketplace have finally been released. The car is rumored to come with a standard V-6 engine, a 400-hp V-8, and a turbocharged V-8 with 500 hp. The Panamera will utilize the 7-speed dual-clutch PDK transmission that first debuted in the 2009 911. Rear-wheel drive will be standard on the naturally-aspirated engines, with four-wheel drive being standard on the Panamera Turbo model and optional on its siblings. A hybrid is in the works; to be released later in the car’s life.  A full release, including more juicy details, of the Panamera is expected in the spring of 2009. Facelifted Boxster and Cayman revealed

Debuting at the L.A. Auto show are the mildly-revised 2009 Porsche Boxster and Cayman models. Like the 2009 911, the Cayman’s and Boxster’s changes are hard to spot; even for some enthusiasts. The 2009 tweaks include new head lamps, tail lamps, rear diffuser and some minor cosmetic changes in the cabin.

Both cars receive a power boost in both their standard and optional engines. The Cayman now creates the most out of the duo to help justify its price premium over the Boxster. The 2.9-liter F-6 is standard in both cars and now makes 265 hp in the Cayman and 255 in the Boxster.  The Cayman S and Boxster S, equipped with the 3.4-liter F-6, now produce 320 and 310 hp, respectively.

Both cars will now take advantage of Porsche’s dual-clutch PDK transmission that was just released in the 2009 911. The PDK is able to shift so quick, acceleration times with the PDK are faster than that of the manual-equipped cars. View more Porsche Cayman S and Boxster S pictures here.
