NEWS & REVIEWS Probably the rarest car on the planet. Bristol is an eccentric British manufacturer of quirky sporting saloons, powered by a range of Chrysler engines. The Fighter is powered by specially built versions of the Viper’s mighty V-10; a special “blown” version is supposed to have a top speed that makes the Veyron look slow. Bristol boasts the aerodynamics have been developed from land-speed-record cars and submarines—so it will be okay in a straight line and underwater. As well as the outrageous performance claims, Bristol also reckon it will return 16.6 U.S. mpg, but as no press cars are ever made available any performance claim made by Bristol must be taken at face value. With, Bristol says, sufficient interior space for a couple of basketball-sized occupants and their golf equipment, maybe the car’s biggest drawback is its gullwing doors that are next to useless at drive-throughs.
