NEWS & REVIEWS Start writing, begging, pleading, throwing a hissy fit, demanding that the powers-that-be at Volkswagen give the green light to limited production of their manic, midengined Golf GTI concept. Created for the annual Vee-Dub enthusiast fest in Germany in 2007, this crazy Golf comes with a twin-turbocharged 6.0-liter W-12 engine sitting in the backseat, channeling a massive 650-hp and 533 lb-ft of twist to the rear wheels. The body is a bespoke steel and carbon fiber “silhouette” of a regular Rabbit, with massive wheel arches barely covering those 19-inch rims. To feed air to the W-12, pretty much the whole front bumper is one massive air intake, complimented by intakes in front of the rear wheels and on the rear roof pillars. Hit the right pedal and you’re looking at zero-to-60 sprints in 3.7 seconds and a 202-mph top speed. We say, “Bring it on!” PHOTOS: click photos to enlarge
