2007 Mitsubishi LANCER EVOLUTION X

With the next-generation Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution, you won’t see any evolution. We’re talking revolution! Last year’s Concept-X gave the strongest hints yet as to how the much-anticipated Evo X rally car for the road is going to look when it goes into production in late 2007. Riding on an all-new platform that it’ll share with the next Chrysler PT Cruiser, the car will follow the wild styling of the Concept-X, with it’s forward-thrusting nose; big, blistered wheel arches; and a five-door hatchback body. Under the hood, it’s expected to get a slightly more powerful version of the turbocharged MIVEC variable valve timing 2.0-liter four-cylinder, with horsepower boosted from the current 286 bhp to more than 300. It’ll be mated to a clutchless six-speed that’ll channel power to all four wheels through an improved S-AWC all-wheel-drive system. Steeringwheel- mounted paddles will look after the shifting. After nine generations of Lancer Evo, it makes sense that the tenth is a stormer.
