Both feature a dramatic hood with a more efficient hood scoop for air induction and functional hood louvers to facilitate a greater cooling effect for the powerful 8.4-liter 600-horsepower V-10 engine underneath. Four new exterior colors will be introduced throughout the 2009 model year — Anaconda Green Pearl Coat, Graphite Metallic Clear Coat, Diamond Black Pearl Coat and Viper Bright White Clear Coat. Dual, painted hood stripes continue to be an option with seven stripe colors available. With a total of eight exterior colors, seven stripe colors and five interior choices, customers have more than 30 exterior/interior combinations to choose from. Several exterior differences exist between the 2009 Dodge Viper SRT10 Roadster and Coupe. In fact, the only body panels the Roadster and Coupe share are front fascia and fenders, hood and doors. However, all of the iconic Viper SRT10 design cues are consistent in both models, including the signature Dodge crosshair grille, deep-cut side scallops, swept-back fenders and lowered hood lines. Five interior colors will be available in 2009: black, black/red, black/blue, black/medium slate or black/natural tan. A choice of bezel finishes on the center instrument panel and console adds to the increased level of customization. • The 2009 Dodge Viper SRT10 generates 600 horsepower (450 kW) and 560 lb.-ft. 2009 Dodge CHALLENGER SMS 570

NEWS & REVIEWS Late Friday night on January 16, 2009, automotive icon Steve Saleen and his new company SMS Supercars launched the production version of the SMS 570 Challenger to media and customers. The lifestyle unveiling at “Tentation” nightclub in Newport Beach proved to be the perfect venue for the automotive enthusiast audience. “We have an exciting new vehicle and wanted to shake up the old standard introduction at an auto show” explains Steve Saleen. After its late night launch the SMS 570 Challenger began its lengthy tour to numerous US destinations and Dodge dealerships. First stop last weekend was the Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale, AZ, where it was on display for attendees to admire. “Scottsdale was just a stopover en route to the NADA Convention in New Orleans”, notes Steve, “I will present the car to Dodge dealers at the convention January 24-27”. The car will then continue on to a number of locations in the South East where it will be shown to customers and dealers. A US press tour with both production models will follow at the end of the first quarter of 2009. The 500 HP SMS 570 Challenger and the 700 HP SMS 570 X Challenger can be ordered through all Dodge dealers at this time. In addition to the patented SMS Supercharger atop the ultra high-performance engine, both production models feature completely revised aesthetics, aerodynamics and performance features including; SMS Series 4 suspension and high performance cross drilled brakes with six pistons up front and four pistons at the rear. Mr. Norm’s Garage facility in Hudson, Florida, Mike Staveski, managing partner of Mr. Norm’s Garage announced today. These vehicles debuted at the 2008 SEMA SHOW, and have been on a national tour since that event. During 2009 they have been displayed in the Dodge Exhibit at the Chicago Automobile Show and the San Diego Automobile Show, along with the Grand National Roadster Show in Pomona, California and the Detroit Autorama. Look for them next in the Mr. Norm’s Garage exhibit on the Manufacturers Midway at Mopars At The Strip at the Las Vegas Speedway and the Chrysler LX Festival in Irvine, California. Based on the new 2009 Dodge Challenger SRT-8, the Mr. Norm’s Super Challenger and Super Cuda draw inspiration from their race bred relatives, the original 1971 Mr. Norm’s Super Challenger Super Fuel Funny Car and the legendary 1970 Cuda. VIDEO: NEWS & REVIEWS You bet your sweet cotton socks it has a Hemi. A 6.1-liter V-8 Hemi packing 425 horses and enough torque to uproot tree stumps. For 2009, you may be able to order-up Dodge’s Challenger retro coupe in 3.5-liter V-6 and 5.7-liter V-8 flavors. But it’s the mighty SRT-8 version that still best re-kindles the image of the original 1970 Challenger; the Vanishing Point Challenger. The big change for the ’09 SRT is the option of the slick-shift.ing six-speed manual tranny from the Viper. For enthusiastic do-it-yourself shift.ers, the new six-speed gives the Challenger an added dimension, allowing you to do those crazy, smokey burn-outs at the drop of a clutch, something you can do with consummate ease while waiting in line at your local McDonalds drive-thru. NEWS & REVIEWS Background: The Dodge Viper isn’t exactly the easiest car to live with so when Dodge introduces the American Club Racer (ACR) version, you know things are only going to get worse. The changes are simple yet drastic to the character of the car. For an additional $5,600, you get a new front splitter, a carbon fiber wing, new coil-overs, new shocks, lighter wheels and wider tires. Won’t you don’t get is a single upgrade to the engine or transmission; you would normally expect at least ten more horses, like last generation’s ACR. Performance: The absence of any engine mods doesn’t do much for the acceleration times but, due to better grip, there is a small increase when accelerating at higher speeds. Where the changes do alter the car is in the handling and drivability department. Grip is now in abundance, increase the ease of driving the bad-boy Dodge at any speed. Lateral g’s, slalom and figure eight test numbers have all improved. Exterior: The biggest item that will grab your attention and let everyone know this isn’t a normal Viper is the oversized rear wing. It extends well above the trunk lid and is large and wide enough to be spotted from any angle you view the car. The addition of a front splitter as well as smaller rims is also a dead giveaway. Interior: An option to remove such unnecessary items like the radio, A/C unit, leather and power windows to drop weight by 40lbs is available. The normal Viper rides rough, so be prepared to have black and blue kidneys if you take the ACR out onto anything beyond a smooth track. Market Impact: Not everyone’s cup of tea is the basic premise of the ACR. It adds tons of grip but on 80 wear tires and to the expense of your internal organs. NEWS & REVIEWS How best to describe the latest iteration of Dodge’s crazy-powerful Viper SRT10? Two words: more venom. To distance itself even further from Chevy’s 505-bhp Corvette Z06, the snake charmers at Chrysler SRT have added an extra 90 horses to the Viper’s corral, bringing the tally up to a nice, round 600 bhp. Bumping up the monster V-10’s capacity to 8.4 liters, bolting on new cylinder heads, with bigger valves and variable valve timing for better breathing, now catapults the Viper from zero-to-60 mph in 3.8 seconds. Keep your right foot floored and, for the first time, you’ll see a genuine 200 mph on the speedo. They also bolted in a new version of the Tremec T56 six speeder with widergears and a smoother, lighter action, while out back there’s a new GKN Visco Lok speed-sensing limitedslip diff for better traction. And with six menacing vents on the hood, and the availability of reptilian Snakeskin Green paint, the 2008 Viper is even more adept at terrifying small children. PHOTOS: click photos to enlarge

NEWS & REVIEWS Just the mere whisper of the name “Charger” conjures up images of those crazy Duke boys and “The General Lee” flying through the air. The latest Charger may not be a two-door coupe like “The General”, but it has more than enough power to make it fly. Particularly in SRT8 trim with its throaty, 425-bhp 6.1-liter Hemi under the hood. Like its Chrysler 300C SRT8 sibling, the Charger comes with all the right go-faster gear: trash-can-lid-sized Brembo brakes, stiffer suspension, and cool 20-inch rims. And the guys at Chrysler’s SRT division did a fine job of making the Charger look as mean as Boss Hogg with a hangover. There’s a big hood scoop, a deeper front spoiler, and a retro-looking wing on the trunk lid. And it’s just a blast to drive with real muscle-car performance and surprisingly nimble handling.
