Although the majority of owners may purchase a new set of rims, few carbon fiber pieces, and/or a sports exhaust for their new Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4, Oakley Design knows there will be a few hardcore enthusiasts that want a rear-wheel-drive Aventador with more power and a tasteful design package. For those few, it offers the LP760-2 package.
Oakley Design is confident that the Aventador, with its very stiff full carbon monocoque and advanced suspension design, is the perfect candidate for a rear-wheel-drive layout. Removal of the front differential, drive shafts, and associated front drivetrain parts reduces the weight of the car by 187 pounds. Less weight drives performance at nearly every level but the loss of the driven front wheels will result in less stability. If 690 hp and rear-wheel drive weren’t a troublesome-enough situation, Oakley Design’s tweaked intake and exhaust systems and remapped ECU results into an increase in power by around 10 percent for a target output of 760 hp and 550 lb-ft of torque. Oakley Design thinks its suspension upgrades will help keep the newfound power planted to the road and the Aventador headed in its intended direction.
The LP760-2 package also tweaks the appearance of the Aventador. The two plastic front and rear bumper trims and side air intakes located behind the doors are larger and now made of carbon fiber. At the rear, an angular cover surrounding the four exhaust pipes with a signature burnt blue tip complement a new wider rear diffuser.
Wheels developed with HRE are lighter and provide more grip. In a little bit of wheel trickery, it increased wheel width from 9.0J to 9.5 inches in front and from 12.0J to 13.0J at the rear but retained the factory tires. This provides a wider footprint and endows the rear wheels with more mechanical grip in Corsa mode. Each wheel also weighs 8.8 pounds less than its stock counterpart, for a total weight savings of 35 pounds.
The Oakley Design Aventador LP760-2 will be limited to just five cars, three of which are already sold. A unique numbered plaque inside will identify each car. Outside of this limited-edition model, individual parts will be available for clients who do not require the complete package.
