Mach7 Falcon previewed at Detroit

Mach 7 Falcon

Mach7 Motorsports of Holly, Michigan, is ready to take orders for its Falcon supercar after its unveiling at the 2011 North America International Auto Show. Mach7 hopes to produce 15 cars a year at a price tag of approximately $200,000. The car is constructed around a Hydroformed chassis with a Corvette-based LS3 V-8 engine producing 500 hp slipped behind the passenger cabin. Power runs through a 6-speed H-gate to the rear wheels. A 640-hp supercharged LS9 V-8 is optionally available and ensures the car is as fast as it looks. Speaking of looks, and like many new manufacturers trying to find their place in the marketplace, the Falcon’s styling comes across as a compilation of many different supercars spliced together. Depending on the angle, we see a little Ferrari 430, Gumpert Apollo, Ferrari F50, Ferrari 308, and maybe a touch of the Lamborghini Estoque concept car in its lines.

Mach7 Motorsports is an offshoot of Advanced Propeller Engineering, which has been serving the marine industry for nearly 20 years. Mach7 has primarily focused on body kits for the Dodge Viper and has only recently decided to venture out as an automobile manufacturer. Its experience with composite materials, like carbon fiber and fiberglass, passes over into the company’s first production car and guarantees the Falcon will carry a low curb weight of around 2,850 pounds. With the optional 640-hp LS9 V-8, the Falcon supercar is rumored to go zero-to-60 mph in 3.5 seconds.
