Ferrari World is up and running, opening to the public last Thursday, November 4, 2010, a week later than originally planned due to the death of Sheikh Saqr bin Mohammed al-Qasimi, the ruler of Ras al Khaymah (one of the seven emirates that form the United Arab Emirates [UAE]). The plan is to attract as many as 10,000 visitors a day although no official numbers from its opening weekend have been made public. General admission tickets are approximately $60 while premium admission, which gives you access to the VIP lounge, priority in ride queues, and other benefits, will set you back around $100. The park will be open Tuesday through Sunday and closed on Mondays.

Formula Rossa hits speeds of 149 mph in 4.9 seconds (zero-to-62 mph in 2.0 seconds) and is designed to recreate the G-forces felt by a Formula One driver; riders must wear goggles for safety concerns.

The V-12 boat ride emulates the inner workings of one of Ferrari’s V-12 engines.

Ferrari World will offer a number of driving areas for kids depending on their age and skill level. These “driving schools” will first tutor the children in the art of driving through educational videos and employee instruction and then allow them to navigate a miniature street course with traffic signs, stop lights, and roads with dividers.

The Fiorano GT Challenge coaster puts you in a mock head-to-head competition with another coaster, all comprised of carts designed to look like Ferrari’s F430 Spider.
