Mercedes-Benz is recalling its 2010 C-Class and E-Class Sedan and 2010–2011 E-Class Coupe and Cabriolet models due to a power steering failure that could result in a crash. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) says that a loss of power steering fluid due to a loose connection fitting leaves the cars especially vulnerable in low-speed situations, like while maneuvering in a parking lot, where maximum power steering is required. Dealers will check and repair the power steering system free of charge. The recall affects 85,000 vehicles.
