The real monster of Japan: LFA or GT-R?

Motor Trend has put the two monsters from Japan, the new Lexus LFA and the Nissan GT-R, up against each other in a quarter-mile blast. We suggest you watch the video below, read the entire article on MotorTrend.com, and then answer the poll question back on our home page.

The Lexus LFA is powered by a 4.8-liter V-10 producing 552 hp and 354 lbs.-ft. of torque that drives the rear wheels through a 6-speed sequential gearbox. For $375,000 you get a car that weighs a mere 3,400 lbs., can accelerate to 60 mph from a standstill in 3.7 seconds, and top out at 202 mph.

The Nissan GT-R is powered by a 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V-6 producing 485 hp and 434 lbs.-ft. of torque that drives all four wheels through a 6-speed dual-clutch transmission. For $80,000 you get a car that weighs 3,800 lbs., can accelerate to 60 mph in 3.4 seconds, and top out at 193 mph.

The Nissan’s DCT transmission, all-wheel drive, and launch control may make it the winner at most stoplight matches, but the LFA wins the quarter-mile races due to its more powerful engine and lower curb weight. The LFA also sticks to the tarmac better and takes less feet to come to a halt. Nonetheless, it still costs four times more than the GT-R. So which is the true supercar of Japan?
