Have you pre-ordered your new Cayenne yet?

The outgoing Cayenne was very capable; even to the point of being unbelievable when you consider the car's size and weight. What the sporty SUV lacked in style and a low curb weight it made up for with both brute power and the necessary equipment to make it capable off road. So when Porsche decided that its new Cayenne would go against the automotive grain and actually decrease in size and weight, we knew that Porsche purists everywhere would be smirking.

CEO Michael Macht has confirmed what many knew was going to happen. The new-for-2011 Porsche Cayenne is selling well, which is especially exciting considering the car is not officially for sale in any market. It seems that the car’s pre-orders are exceeding the company’s expectations.

Although no exact figures were given, expectations are plenty high for its newest model. Porsche’s new management has been looking to double its yearly sales after former CEO Wendelin Wiedeking stepped down in mid-2009. He stepped down after 16 years at the helm after Volkswagen, in a power play, took a majority stake in Porsche; a merger that may go bad if investors win their lawsuit against Porsche.
