Mercedes-Benz unveiled a special run of G55 AMG autos at the 2009 Dubai Motor Show. Called the “Edition 79,” the Designo Magno Alanite Grey-painted car will be limited to a run of, you guessed it, 79 autos all destined for the Middle East. The car is a tribute to the year 1979, the year Mercedes started building the infamous G. No performance enhancements were mentioned, so the 5.5-liter supercharged V-8 engine will make the same 500 hp and 516 lbs.-ft. of torque as the standard G55 model. Besides the special paint, the car can be distinguished from a base model via its front grille guard, carbon-fiber side strips, and 19-inch AMG wheels in a titanium finish. Inside you will find special two-tone leather seats and a commemorative plaque. See more pictures and read our G55 Edition 79 overview.
