**Update**Chance Mayfield contacted us to provide a picture of the actual car that was recovered. We had previously used a stock picture of a blue 1965 Chevrolet Corvette convertible to convey what the car may have looked like.**Update**
A Nashville, Tennessee, man had his 1965 Corvette returned to him after being stolen 39 years ago. The Nassau Blue convertible with a white top was stolen from Chance Mayfield in 1970 while he was in a local bar. The vintage Corvette was found in Scottsdale, Arizona, after a car collector tried to register the car with the Arizona Department of Motor Vehicles and the car came back as stolen. Although the car had been previously owned by a variety of car collectors, this was the first time the car had been referenced by the National Insurance Claims Bureau while being registered. The car was worth approximately $2,200 when it was stolen and is now worth an estimated $65,000. Due to Chance having no insurance at the time the car was stolen, he is still the official owner of the car and not the insurance company.
