Ferrari has filed a patent for a new type of door with an aim to improve access to low-slung sports cars while still being cost effective. As you can see from the drawings below, the doors will carry into the front fender with a hinge that resides above the front wheels; well in front of the A-pillar. The doors open upwards to provide easier ingress/egress.
