A member of North America’s GT-R Owners Club (NAGTROC) is reporting that last Friday the 9th district court in Los Angeles, California, settled on the Nissan’s GT-R transmission issues and the denial of warranty. The decision went in favor of the plaintiffs:
All owners of the car with the original ECU programming, referred to as LC1, who have had their warranties voided due to VDC being turned off will have their warranties reset to the original 5-year/60,000 mile powertrain warranty if they upgrade to the new ECU programming, referred to as LC2, that came out in the 2010 car. Once these stipulations have been met and any damaged transmissions have been replaced, Nissan is allowed to void the warranty if it can prove the new transmission was damaged because the VDC was turned off.
As an added bonus, all GT-R owners will receive a $75 coupon for use on any service at a GT-R-approved dealership for the time it will take to update the ECU.
