These ‘ring records are about as unofficial as they come; however, it somehow still holds some stature in the automotive community. Someday, maybe, an official community will come out and put all the debate to rest. Until then, we have word that one manufacture’s newest sedan has just leaped frogged another manufacturer’s sedan’s previous track record.
One year ago, Cadillac announced that its CTS-V sedan lapped Nürburgring in 7 minutes and 59 seconds, the fastest time ever recorded for a production four-door car. Porsche, which did not sit still when the GT-R claimed the two-door title, has just announced that its Panamera sedan is the new ‘ring master with a time of 7 minutes and 56 seconds—three seconds faster than the Caddy.
