Bertone’s Design Director Jason Castriota did hint that at a run of 10 units maybe planned for the Mantide concept it showed at the Shanghai Auto Show . The Mantide is based off the Chevrolet Corvette ZR-1, using its 6.2-liter supercharged 638-hp V-8 to propel it to 60 mph in 3.2 seconds and on to a top speed in excess of 217 mph. The price tag for the supercar is approximately $2 million.
The car’s exterior is complex and perplexing from some angles, but it is all functional, and helps reduce drag and improve downforce. The back end is one area that seems to depart from what we have come to expect from a supercar; however, in a way, it reminds us of a Spada TS Codatronica (whose front bumper, we just noticed, looks a lot like the Lamborghini Estoque's).
