Shelby SuperCars is not happy producing the world’s fastest gasoline-engine-powered production car. Now its sights are on reestablishing what an electric-powered car is capable of. The SSC Ultimate Aero EV will have a top speed upwards of 150 mph, maybe even near 200 mph, making it the world’s fastest electric car. Power will be from what SSC calls an All-Electric Scalable Powertrain (AESP) connected to a lithium-ion battery.
Besides top speed, another outrageous—yet hopefully true—claim made by SSC is that the battery can recharged in ten minutes through any 110-volt outlet. If AESP is everything it is cracked up to be, the powerplant maybe reconfigured and wholesaled to other manufacturers. SSC says that the powerplant is versatile enough to find its way into anything, from 200-hp passenger cars to 1200-hp heavy-duty trucks and military vehicles.
