2013 Lamborghini Gallardo Super Trofeo Race Car

At a race meeting in Navarra, Spain, Lamborghini revealed their latest racer that is set to hit the tracks. The Lamborghini Gallardo Super Trofeo Blancpain GT Racer is an incredible race car, and a great addition to the Lamborghini lineup.  It features the same upgrades that the 2013 Lamborghini Gallardo standard model received. Previous Lamborghini Gallardo Super Trofeo models were powered by V10 engine that pumped out 570bhp, and with the standard Gallardo not seeing any mechanical upgrades, odds are this Super Trofeo will see the same V10.

Introducing the Lamborghini Aventador J

Lamborghini Aventador J Front View

This past weekend, photos were leaked of the Lamborghini’s Aventador J, not to be confused with the upcoming Aventador roadster. The Aventador J will not be a regular production model and can best be described as a speedster with a very aggressive aero package that lacks a roof and a windshield.

Lamborghini Aventador J Side View

From the picture we can see that the aero package includes a front spoiler, side sills, rear diffuser, and a rear wing, all finished in black. It is suspected that Lamborghini has stripped all of the luxurious amenities such as the interior, air conditioning, and an audio system in order to reduce the cars weight.

Lamborghini Aventador J Top View

The Italian word at the end of the video, “unica”, translates to “only”, which could imply that this speedster will be the only one. There have been no confirmations about what engine will be in the little speedster but we will not have to wait long to find out. The car will premiere tomorrow at the Geneva Motor Show and we're excited to find out the details of this amazing machine!

MLC will be Lamborghini's New Suv

Lamborghinis Concept SUV

Lamborghini has admitted it will be getting back in the SUV business. This will be the manufacturer’s second attempt at producing an SUV. The first attempt was with the Lamborghini LM002, produced between 1986-1993. The newest Lamborghini SUV will supposedly carry the name, MLC and is most likely going to be very similar to the Audi Q7 platform. It’s expected to be powered by the Gallardo’s 5.2-liter V10 unit that can produce almost 600 horsepower. We can expect to see a sneak peak of this SUV at the 2012 Beijing Motor Show. It is expected that the Lamborghini MLC SUV will go into production in 2015.

Modern Wheels, Classic Cars

HRE Vintage Series Line

HRE Performance Wheels recently introduced its new Vintage Series line. This line of wheels is a modern example of throwback designs. The classically styled wheels are hand built just as they were almost thirty years ago. The auto industry could use a little old school mixed in with its new school, and this wheel line molds these two opposites together seamlessly, keeping the traditional wheel designs alive through new school flair. View the making-of video below. Follow the link for individual photos of the wheels.

New photos from a private shoot with a Lamborghini Super Trofeo Stradale

2012 Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Super Trofeo Stradale

Jordan Shiraki, the resident photographer for Lamborghini Las Vegas, sent us his first photos of the new 2012 Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Super Trofeo Stradale. One of 150 units slated for production, the Gallardo was photographed by Shiraki in Henderson, Nevada, before its delivery to a private owner.

The Gallardo Super Trofeo Stradale pays tribute to its Blancpain Super Trofeo racecar in a package that will still be legal on the street. it surpasses the already track-oriented LP570-4 as the most extreme Gallardo ever. The Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo race series is sponsored by both Lamborghini and Blancpain, the self-dubbed world's oldest luxury watchmaker, and brings racers and professional drivers face-to-face on Europe’s most challenging racetracks such as Monza, Silverstone, and Hockenheim.

Undeniably similar to the LP570-4 Blancpain Edition and with mechanicals based on the LP570-4 Superleggera, the Super Trofeo Stradale features an enormous carbon rear spoiler for increased stability during tight, high-speed driving and a removable carbon engine hood with quick-release latches.

Follow the link to view more of Shiraki's photos of the 2012 Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Super Trofeo Stradale.

Seven fine finds at Barrett-Jackson's 2012 Scottsdale auction

Barrett-Jackson’s Scottsdale, Arizona, event has become arguably the world’s premier collector-car auction. Starting out as a small charity function in 1967, the multi-day event now attracts more than 250,000 people and hundreds of classic cars. Scottsdale’s 2012 auction appears to be just as big since many rare and exclusive automobiles have already registered to cross the auction block.

Because every collector has his or her own particular likes and dislikes and considering the variety of cars, I could never label a small set of automobiles as standing absolutely above all the rest. But, despite the glorious assortment of fine and collectible cars, I have assembled a list of seven of the more notable automobiles (in no particular order) that will go under the auctioneer’s hammer.

Follow the jump to read our guest post at MyCarQuest.

Utah man wrecks Lamborghini hours after winning it

David Dopp Lambo Winner

David Dopp—a Frito-Lay truck driver, resident of the small town of Santaquin in Utah, and father of five—won big, or so he thought.

Last week, a “Joe Schmo to Lambo” contest sponsored by Maverik convenience stores and Teamgive, a not-for-profit organization, declared David Dopp the winner of an eye-popping lime-green 2010 Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 Roadster, estimated to be worth more than $350,000. In addition to the sports car, Dopp also won driving lesson worth $5,000.

Unfortunately, Dopp, crashing the Italian exotic mere hours after taking delivery on Saturday, may no longer need those lessons.

This story starts when Dopp was first given the keys to his new 632-hp ride. According to a message Dopp posted on Facebook before the crash, Santaquin Police contacted him because residents were complaining that he was driving too fast. Then, approximately six hours after Dopp acquired the Lamborghini, the police were called again, but this time because Dopp had crashed the car.

As Dopp told police, he was coming around a corner, hit a patch of black ice or gravel, and the car slid out of control. The car came to rest about 75 feet off the road. Dopp admitted to going 40 to 50 mph in the 35-mph zone, and police confirmed the crash was speed related. The car was sent to Las Vegas, Nevada, to be repaired. The crash caused damages to the oil pan and bumpers and numerous scratches.

Jalopnik claims that this crash might have been on purpose. It says that a close friend of Dopp contacted the web site and said the car was totaled in order to collect $300,000 insurance payout. Jalopnik reasons that since Dopp had to put his house up as collateral for the insurance and taxes, which could have exceeded $100,000, he must have ultimately been planning to wreck the Lamborghini and collect the insurance money. It also points to a post Dopp put on Jay Leno’s Facebook page asking for help with selling the car.

We think that Dopp simply wanted to enjoy his new toy before he was forced to get rid of it.

According to the Associated Press, Dopp is going to have the car repaired, and then he will try to sell it.

"I already had offers on it. I'm going to sell it," David Dopp said Wednesday. "I have bills more important than a Lamborghini. I've got a family to support."

Jermaine Dupri sued for unpaid Lamborghini bills totaling $80,000

Jermaine Dupri Lamborghini

Premier Financial Services—the same organization that worked with Lamborghini to provide low-cost leases—is suing Record Producer Jermaine Dupri Mauldin for the money owed on a 2005 Lamborghini Murcielago Roadster. Premier Financial Services loaned Mauldin $330,000 in 2006 in return for 58 monthly payments of $4,323. Mauldin made payments totaling more than $135,000, including a $70,000 down payment, but suddenly stopped in 2009. Premier Financial Services repossessed the car and sold it for $115,000, leaving Mauldin with a $79,095 tab, which Premier Financial Services is now suing to obtain.

Jermaine Dupri, as he is best identified, is famous for launching the careers of Kris Kross, Da Brat, Jagged Edge, and Lil’ Bow Wow and working with Usher, Mariah Carey, and other well-known artists.
