Fleet of exotics, including 8 Ferraris, crash in Japan

A fleet of exotic supercars were involved in a disastrous crash in Japan on Sunday after one hit a median barrier and spun out of control. The crash included a stunning eight Ferraris, a Lamborghini, and three Mercedes. In total, 14 vehicles were involved. Luckily, no one was seriously injured. The Ferraris appear to include a white 512, a 430 Scuderia, F360s with large rear wings, and F355s. The pack of sports cars was headed to Hiroshima from Kyushu and eclipsing speeds of 90 mph according to initial reports. The accident occurred when one of the Ferraris tried to change lanes on the wet road and crashed into a median barrier, sparking a chain of events that led to the horrific crash. Damages are estimated at $3.8 million.

Bugatti Veyron that took a bath in Texas Lake now up for sale

The Bugatti Veyron that crashed in into a lake off Interstate 45 near Omega Bay, Texas, is being sold under an insurance salvage auction. The gray 2006 Bugatti Veyron 16.4 coupe with 1,869 miles on the odometer has a listed cash value of $1,500,000 but will most likely fetch much less due to the car’s water damage. Noticeable damage from the salt-water lagoon includes extensive interior damages and rusty bolts on the vehicles undercarriage. You can compete against four other bidders at Insurance Salvage Auctions. If you are not interested in the Veyron, you can bid on a $350,000 2008 Lamborghini Murcielago with $300,000 worth of damages, a ready-for-the-compactor 2007 Lamborghini Gallardo with extensive rollover damage, a 2000 Ferrari F360 Spyder in need of repairs worth half its value, or a 2007 Bentley Continental Flying Spur in need of a new front clip.

The ultimate limousine for Ferrari fans

The typical limo is big, slow, bulky, and anything but sporty. But what if you could take the joy and prestige of riding in a Ferrari and combine it with the luxury of a limousine? The Ferrari limo comes from a company named Ferrari Limo Hire. It has drawn and quartered several Ferrari F360s and turned them into performance-oriented limousines that not only look the part, but they can play it too. We already told you about how one Ferrari limo was used in a Top Gear-themed wedding complete with a Stig-lookalike as the driver. Some say it's an atrocity, others say it's art! Which side of the fence do you fall on? Hit the jump and read more at Tampa Sports Car Examiner.

A look back at duPont REGISTRY's Top 100 Cars of the Century

In 1999, the duPont REGISTRY held a survey where it asked its subscribers and the visitors to its web site to pick the 10 best cars of the century. Using those opinions, along with the picks from a number of notable persons like Mario Andretti, Don Panoz, Carroll Shelby, and Reggie Jackson, it compiled a list of the Top 100 Cars of the Century and dedicated a special book to its cause (in a way it was the precursor to our annual editorial-based Exotic Car Buyers Guide). The book hit newsstands before the turn of the century and was a great success. Today we are going to take a look back at that list and reminisce on what cars were picked and why and compare it to how those cars would probably rank exactly 10 years later.

Taking the number one spot on our top 100 list was the Lamborghini Diablo. Unveiled in production trim in Monte Carlo in January 1990, the Diablo was in its ninth year and still being produced at the time the book was written. We praised the “devil” for its “staggering 530 bhp from the…5.7-liter V-12,” and “0-60 mph acceleration under 4 seconds.” In the review we wrote “Lamborghini is rumored to be working on the next generation supercar. Though it’s hard to believe, they will create an automobile that will surpass our number one car in speed, power, and aerodynamic style.” Of course none of us knew the Lamborghini Murciélago was going to be so fast and so powerful and garnish as much admiration from the motoring public with its stout 580-hp 6.2-liter V-12 engine as it did. However, looking back, we can’t help but think that if a Lamborghini were to make the top ten list, shouldn’t it be the Lamborghini Countach? A model that has influenced the styling of all the company’s cars for the past 40 years.

Continue our look back at the top 100 cars of the last 100 years.

AskMen names top ten douchemobiles

Top ten lists and throwing around immoderate comments about things that others hold dear is one way to get attention on the Internet. That's why we have brought you AskMen's top ten “douchemobile” list. These are, in its words, automobiles whose "reputation is sullied by some of the guys who drive them." The cars in the list range in price from the tens of thousands to the hundreds of thousands. Some of the standouts include any Ferrari F430 or F360 in Fly Yellow that is not a track car or Scuderia or Challenge Stradale edition, any Porsche Cayenne, any Lamborghini Gallardo or Murcielago in a fluorescent color, and, holding the number one spot, any Hummer model. Agree or disagree?

Man gets chauffeured to his wedding by Stig

Our idea of the perfect bride may be of one that wants to spend our Honeymoon at Bob Bondurant’s driving school or renting an exotic car for the week, so we are always glad to hear when a bride does come close to something automotive.

A man in the city of Derby located within the United Kingdom was chauffeured to his wedding in a Ferrari Limo driven by a Stig lookalike. The bride secretly arranged for the whole deal because the groom and the groom’s son are both big fans of Top Gear. The limo was the rare 360 Modena stretched limousine that made some headlines about two years ago. The limo holds up to eight people, stretches more than 284 inches, weighs approximately 3,400 pounds, and is powered by the same 3.6-liter V-8 making 400 hp at 8,200 rpm.
